Isotopes Fall 5-3 to Bees for 11th Straight Loss

June 28, 2016

The Isotopes brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth but fell short, dropping the contest to the Salt Lake Bees 5-3. The loss marks the Isotopes 11th consecutive defeat, the longest losing streak in Isotopes history.

Albuquerque starter Harrison Musgrave was the hard-luck loser on the evening despite a solid performance on the mound. The 24-year-old left-hander allowed just one earned run over his seven innings on the hill. The southpaw struck out six while allowing just four hits.

For the second night in a row the eighth inning was the undoing for the Isotopes pitching staff. Three walks, two singles, a hit batsman, and a balk led to three runs crossing the plate for the Bees in the frame.

The Isotopes offense answered back in the bottom of the inning, also plating three runs during the frame. Ben Paulsen drove home two runs after driving a triple off the right field wall. Dustin Garneau then would follow with a sacrifice fly, driving home Paulsen.

The Isotopes and Bees wrap up their four-game set tomorrow evening from Isotopes Park. Rockies right-hander Christian Bergman will make his second rehab start with the Isotopes tomorrow evening. Salt Lake will counter with right-hander Nick Tropeano (NR). First pitch in the series finale is set for 7:05 p.m.
