Bees Complete Sweep of Isotopes

June 29, 2016

The Salt Lake Bees completed a four-game sweep of the Albuquerque Isotopes (31-48) with a 5-2 victory tonight at Isotopes Park. The Isotopes have now lost 12 straight games and have been swept in three consecutive series.

The Isotopes took an early 2-0 lead in the opening frame as Stephen Cardullo launched a two-run home run over the left field wall. The home run was Cardullo's team leading 11th of the season.

Ben Paulsen followed Cardullo with a single up the middle, but his base hit and Jeff Bianchi's sixth inning single would be the only other hits Albuquerque would record tonight. The Isotopes three hits on the evening are tied for the fewest the team has recorded in a single game this season.

Christian Bergman made his second rehab start on the mound for the Isotopes on Tuesday. The Rockies right-hander pitched five innings while allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out six.

The Isotopes will have an off day tomorrow before traveling to Sacramento to face the River Cats (Triple-A Giants) in a four-game series starting Thursday. Right-hander Jeff Hoffman (4-5, 3.49) will get the ball for the Isotopes as he looks to remain first in the Pacific Coast League in strikeouts (88). The River Cats have Joan Gregorio (1-4, 5.59) slated as their starter. The series opener from Raley Field will get underway at 8:05 p.m.
