Isotopes Sweep Doubleheader with 5-3 Win over 51s

July 9, 2016

The Isotopes were able to complete the sweep of Friday night's doubleheader, taking game two from the Las Vegas 51s 5-3. It is the second time the Isotopes have swept a doubleheader this season, the first also coming on the road against the Reno Aces on April 30.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Isotopes rallied in the fourth inning to plate four runs in the frame, with the first two runs coming on back-to-back home runs from Dustin Garneau and Ben Paulsen. Eddie Butler would go on to record an RBI single with Rafael Ynoa following his pitcher by recording an RBI double.

Albuquerque would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning on Jordan Patterson's sacrifice fly, scoring David Dahl.  Dahl extended his hitting streak to six games after recording a single in the frame.

Though Matt Flemer was scheduled to get the start for the Isotopes, Eddie Butler took the hill for Glenallen Hill's squad. The start marked Butler's first with the Isotopes since April 22 after appearing in 12 games with the Rockies. Butler improved his record with Albuquerque to 3-0, allowing three runs over five innings on the mound.

Reliever Scott Oberg shut down the 51s in the seventh inning to pick up his sixth save of the season and secure the victory for the Isotopes.

Albuquerque and Las Vegas are back in action tomorrow evening for the final game before the All-Star Break. Rockies right-hander Christian Bergman (0-2, 4.15) is scheduled to make his fourth rehab start with the Isotopes. He will be opposed by the 51s Robert Gsellman (0-1, 15.00). First pitch from Cashman Field is set for 8:05 p.m.
