Isotopes Park to Introduce Enhanced Safety Measures

In conjunction with the City of Albuquerque, the Albuquerque Isotopes will be enhancing security measures to ensure a safer environment for all fans entering Isotopes Park.

Beginning Wednesday, April 25, new fan screening procedure will be instituted at Isotopes Park, similar to those introduced by other professional sports facilities around the country.
The Albuquerque Police Department will have an increased presence both inside and outside Isotopes Park. This includes a boost in APD presence both pre-game and longer post-game deployment of officers in and around the ballpark.
Furthermore, there will be longer scheduled deployment of traffic control officers in the crosswalks of both University Blvd. and Avendia Cesar Chavez on the south and west sides of Isotopes Park, respectively.
Also under the new security measures, Isotopes Park will utilize walk-through metal detectors at each fan entrance.
All cell phones, cameras, keys and other metal objects will need to be removed prior to passing through the metal detectors. Guests will place these objects in a screening bowl alongside each individual machine in close proximity and in clear sight. Once through the metal detector, each fan can easily and quickly gather their items and proceed inside the ballpark.
All bags will continue to be subject to inspection by ballpark security prior to entering the ballpark. No weapons (with or without permit) of any kind will be allowed inside Isotopes Park, including small pocket knives.
All current Isotopes Park carry-in regulations will continue unchanged.
With the enhanced security measures, guests are encouraged to allow for extra time when entering Isotopes Park. Unlike the standard procedures of the Transportation Security Administration, fans will not be required to remove shoes or belts. Those who cannot pass through a metal detector will be checked with a hand-held scanner.
"Safety is, has been and will continue to be our number one priority at Isotopes Park," said Vice President / General Manager John Traub. "These new safety procedures are the next step in providing as safe of an experience as we possibly can for all of our guests."
Isotopes Park gates will continue to open 65 minutes prior to the game's first pitch, unless otherwise stated.
