Kevin Bradshaw returns for 2017, IronBirds' coaching staff announced

Aberdeen, MD - The Aberdeen IronBirds, short-season 'Class-A' affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, announced today, in conjunction with the Orioles, the team's 2017 coaching staff. Returning for his second season in Aberdeen is manager Kevin Bradshaw, who joined the club midway through its 2016 campaign. Also returning to Aberdeen is Ramon Sambo, position player coach. Joining Bradshaw and Sambo in Harford County are two former Major Leaguers, pitching coach Mark Hendrickson, and athletic trainer Adrian Gonzalez.

Kevin Bradshaw, Manager

After joining the IronBirds midway through the 2016 season, Bradshaw begins his first full season as IronBirds skipper. In 2016, prior to joining the IronBirds, Bradshaw served as a field coach with the Orioles' Gulf Coast League affiliate, the GCL Orioles. Bringing over 14 years of minor league coaching experience to Harford County this summer, Bradshaw has spent the majority of his career playing and coaching within the Detroit Tigers and Orioles' organizations.


Mark Hendrickson

Mark Hendrickson, Pitching Coach

Logging over 1,000 Major League innings in a ten-year career, which included three seasons spent with the Orioles, Mark Hendrickson joins the IronBirds this season as the club's pitching coach.

Hendrickson is also one of only twelve men to have played in both the NBA and Major League Baseball. Selected as the 31st overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, a draft that also included Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash, Ray Allen and Stephon Marbury, Hendrickson spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Sacramento Kings, New Jersey Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers over a four-year NBA career.

Ramon Sambo

Ramon Sambo, Position Player Coach

Sambo returns to Aberdeen in 2017 as the position player coach, where he'll work with the club's position players on defensive skills. A veteran of 12 playing seasons, Sambo enjoyed time at the Minor League level in both the United States and Mexico.

Tim Raines Jr., Hitting Coach

Raines Jr., son of Hall of Fame outfielder, Tim Raines Sr., joins the IronBirds in 2017 as the team's hitting coach. Raines Jr. played a total of 14 years at the professional level, eight of them with the Orioles organization. 

Adrian Gonzalez, Athletic Trainer

Gonzalez enters his first season as Athletic Trainer for the IronBirds after serving as Athletic Trainer for the GCL Orioles in 2015-16.
