Summary
Akron's Jake Paulson tossed 6.2 shutout innings, and Sam Haggerty supplied a two-run double, as the RubberDucks blanked the Reading Fightin Phils, 5-0, in the opener of a three-game series at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pa.

Turning Point
The RubberDucks (38-29) notched a pair of runs in the third inning against Reading starter JoJo Romero. After loading the bases on a walk and two singles, Romero issued a bases-loaded walk to Joe Sever to force in the game's first run. Bobby Bradley followed with an RBI-fielder's choice to make it 2-0, Akron.
Mound Presence
Paulson (4-2) made it look easy, allowing just two hits in his 6.2 scoreless innings. He walked three and fanned six and won for the first time since May 16th. Lefty David Speer came in after Paulson and threw one scoreless inning. Flame-thrower Kieran Lovegrove recorded the final four outs to complete the Whitewash. The trio of Akron pitchers combined on a three-hitter.
Duck Tales
Romero left after seven innings in favor of Luke Leftwich, who walked two and gave up three runs in the eighth to make it 5-0. Connor Marabell laced a two-out RBI single down the left field line, and Sam Haggerty followed with a two-run double to left to score two more.
Notebook
Romero struck out a season-high, nine batters, but lost for the first time since May 9th…It was the sixth shutout victory for the RubberDucks…The Fightin Phils (26-39) have lost five straight and dropped to a season-low 13 games under .500…It was Akron's 21st road win of the season, which is tied with New Hampshire for most in the EL…Time of game: 2:40… Attendance: 6,160.
