Turning Point
With five runs in the first two innings, the RubberDucks built a 5-1 lead. Trenton scored a pair in the fourth inning, and in the eighth inning, Thunder catcher Francisco Diaz hit a two-out popup to shallow right field that fell for a game-tying two-run single. The 5-5 tie went into the 11th inning, when Akron center fielder Ka'ai Tom had a go-ahead single. In the bottom of the inning, an error by left fielder Connor Marabell allowed the tying run to score and second baseman Hoy Jun Park to reach second base. With two outs, Wagner lined the game-winning hit to left field.
Mound Presence
Akron left-hander Sam Hentges went a season-long five innings in his first Double-A road start, allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Left-hander Ben Krauth worked two scoreless innings. Right-hander Argenis Angulo allowed the two eighth-inning runs. Right-hander James Karinchak pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. His string of outs exclusively via strikeout ended at 12 to begin the season, as he yielded two groundouts in the ninth inning. With three strikeouts Tuesday, he has 14 total in five hitless innings pitched this season. Left-hander David Speer (0-1) pitched the 10th and 11th innings. Trenton right-hander Adonis Rosa pitched five one-hit shutout innings after starter Trevor Stephan allowed five runs in a three-inning start. Right-hander Domingo Acevedo (2-0) pitched the 11th inning.
Duck Tales
RubberDucks center fielder Ka'ai Tom cleared the bases with a triple to right-center field in the first inning and had a season-high four RBI. Shortstop Andruw Monasterio had his first three-hit game in Double-A. Right fielder Daniel Johnson had two hits and one RBI, making him 7-for-13 with nine RBI the last three games.
