Summary
Akron's Matt Whitehouse was nearly flawless on the mound, and Ka'ai Tom homered, as the RubberDucks captured a 3-0 shutout to gain a split of a doubleheader with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, New York.

Turning Point
The RubberDucks (68-53) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third inning of the nightcap on a sacrifice fly by Nellie Rodríguez and a two-out, RBI single by Tyler Krieger against Ponies starter Harol Gonzalez (0-6).
Mound Presence
Whitehouse (4-1) was brilliant as Akron's spot-starter in Game 2. The lefty allowed a single to lead-off hitter Kevin Taylor in the bottom of the first and then proceeded to retire the next 15 batters he faced. Whitehouse walked none and struck out five and needed only 61 pitches to complete five innings. Lefty Rob Kaminsky followed Whitehouse and worked the final two innings to complete the whitewash and collect his third save.
Duck Tales
Tom cracked a solo homer to left field on a 2-1 pitch from Gonzalez leading off the fourth inning to extend the lead to 3-0. It was Tom's 12th of the season. Krieger and Tom had two hits apiece. Andrew Calica was 1-3, with a double.
