Doug Maurer Bio

Doug is in his eighth year as the Director of Broadcast & Media Relations for the Asheville Tourists and will again call all 140 Tourists games this season. Born and raised in Indianapolis and a graduate of Indiana University, Doug began his career in Minor League Baseball as a Marketing and Administrative Intern with the Princeton Rays of the Appalachian League.

Prior to making the Blue Ridge Mountains his mainstay, Doug visited the area frequently during his childhood years, making him a huge fan of the city of Asheville. Outside of the ballpark, Doug broadcasts men's and women's basketball, soccer and volleyball for the University of North Carolina-Asheville on the Big South Network. He also broadcasts football and basketball games on ESPN radio in Asheville.

A dedicated Indiana Hoosiers and Butler Bulldogs supporter, he is also a loyal fan of his hometown teams--the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers, and the Indy Eleven. Doug is eager, once again, to bring his passion and personality to the Tourists and their supporters for another exciting season.
