Missed opportunities and just seven hits as a team sunk the Beloit Snappers (60-57, 28-20) in their 3-0 shutout loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (56-62, 25-24) Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field in front of 1,489 fans.

For the Snappers, it was their 11th time being shutout this season and their 43rd loss of the season when the opponent score first.

The Timber Rattlers got on the board first in the fourth after the first three innings went scoreless. Gilbert Lara singled to score Eddie Silva, which was followed by a sac fly from Kenny Corey to score Chad McClanahan and make it 2-0 after four.

The T-Rats would tack on another run in the seventh on an RBI single from Silva, who led the way going 3-for-4, making it 3-0.

Offensively, it was one of the tougher games of the season for the Snappers. They only managed seven hits, leaving 10 runners on base and hitting 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Snappers first baseman Miguel Mercedes was one of the few bright spots, batting 2-for-4 and having the only multi-hit game for Beloit.

The Snappers wouldn't get their first and only extra-base hit until the eighth inning on an Austin Beck leadoff double. Hunter Hargrove would walk after to make it two on with no outs, one of the Snappers best opportunities on the day.

Back-to-back-to-back fly outs to the shallow corner outfields killed the threat and the Snappers would go down 1-2-3 in the ninth capped off by a game-ending 4-6-3 double-play.

Getting the loss today was Snappers starter Mitchell Jordan, just his third loss of the season. He would go five innings allowing just four hits and two runs, both earned.

Making his first start of the season for Wisconsin was left-hander Scott Sunitsch. The 18th-round pick in June's draft got his first win going five innings allowing just three hits and zero runs with three strikeouts.

The Snappers return to a 7:00 p.m. first pitch Monday against Wisconsin. It'll be the left-hander Jared Poché (7-6, 3.97), starting on the hill for Beloit. Wisconsin will match up against the Snappers with right-hander Dylan File (7-9, 4.14 ERA).

Monday's game is a WJVL/WCLO Monster Deal Monday special. Two general admission tickets, two hot dogs, two fountain soft drinks, two popcorns, & two adjustable hats, all for just $26. That's a savings of more than $40, thanks to WJVL & WCLO. All 12-oz. domestic drafts are just $1.50.

The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics since 2013. For more ticket information, contact the Snappers office at (608) 362-2272 or on our website, www.snappersbaseball.com.
