BELOIT, WI - It was a warm, sunny night in Beloit Monday, but the Beloit Snappers fell to the Kane County Cougars by a final score of 2-1. In the first of four against the Cougars this weekend, the Snappers received some excellent pitching, but could not muster up enough offense to secure the win.

It would not take long for the Snappers to get on the scoreboard, as they would strike early in the third to take the 1-0 lead.
In the third, the Snappers would get two straight hits from Marcos Brito and Joseph Pena to put runners on first and third with no outs. Just one batter later, Payton Squier hit a ground ball to shortstop to drive in Brito and give the Snappers the early 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the score would not hold, as Kane County would get a run in each the fifth and sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead and ultimately win the game.
For the Snappers on the mound, Bryce Nightengale got the start and will end up with a tough loss after a strong night on the mound. Nightengale threw five and one-third innings with 3 strikeouts, only surrendering 2 runs and 3 hits on the night.
The Snappers would use three different relievers after Nightengale to finish out the final three and two-third innings. Jaimito Lebron would enter first throwing one and two-thirds innings of scoreless baseball, striking out one and only giving up one hit.
Following Lebron was Michael Danielak, who threw a scoreless frame in the eighth. Lastly, Charlie Cerny would close it out with a scoreless ninth to end the night in terms of pitching for the Snappers.
The Beloit Snappers will be back in action tomorrow to take on the Kane County Cougars at 6:30 P.M., right back here at Pohlman Field. In the game, Bryce Conley will get the start and will be looking to follow up his strong performance last time out.
