Snappers Aim To Bounce Back Against Chiefs

The Beloit Snappers (19-21) took a tough 1-0 loss Tuesday afternoon to the Peoria Chiefs (23-19) but return to Pohlman Field Wednesday night in game three of a four-game series. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.

In a game of pitching duels and struggling offenses, Chiefs' Yariel Gonzalez brought home Jose Martinez on a sac fly in the ninth for the game's lone run.
The Snappers only managed three hits total (six hits between both teams). Trace Loehr hit a single early on, raising his hitting streak to five games and has hit in seven of his last nine.
Snappers starting pitching Tuesday was left-hander Ivan Andueza. Andueza pitched well, going 6.2 innings giving up zero runs and picking up five strikeouts.
Jean Ruiz pitched the final 2.1 innings, surrendering the run to Gonzalez and picking up the loss. Ruiz's ERA moved to 5.40, while Andueza's moved to 4.09.
Right-hander Wyatt Marks will be on the bump for the Snappers. Marks has struggled his last two outings, earning losses in both in a combined 7.2 innings and surrendering eight earned runs and five walks. Marks comes into his outing ranked third in the Midwest League in strikeouts with 53.
The Chiefs will send right-hander Zach Predergast to the mound. Predergast (4-2, 2.70) picked up the loss in his last outing against the Clinton LumberKings. He surrendered 5 runs (3 earned) in six innings pitched.
Wednesday's game will be a Kids Eat Free promotional event. Kids 12 and under will receive a hot dog and soda voucher to be redeemed at the main concession stand.
