The Beloit Snappers (16-20) outhit the Quad Cities River Bandits (23-17) 9-to-7, but failed to score runners as the Snappers fell at home Friday night 3-2 to the River Bandits and dropped the opening of a three-game series before a crowd of 536 fans.

After three scoreless innings to begin the contest, Corey Julks of the Bandits lined a two-run double to left field. Cody Bohanek singled home Julks a couple batters later and those three runs were all Quad Cities needed to the finish.
The Snappers had their chances to score and got on base, but consistently failed to push runs across the plate. Beloit went just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position in their opportunities.
Logan Farrar hit a sac fly to score Austin Beck to put the Snappers on the board as they trailed 3-1. The Snappers would sit on one run until the ninth inning, as Beck sent a RBI double in the ninth to bring the Snappers within a run as they trailed 3-2, however, Hunter Hargrove flied out to center to end the game.
Snappers first baseman Hunter Hargrove scored the first run for the Snappers in the fourth inning. His ninth double of the season to get on extended his team-high hitting streak to 13 games.
Josh Reagan started the game, going three scoreless innings while issuing just two hits and notching a strikeout. Projected starter Wyatt Marks came on in the fourth and in six innings surrendered five hits, three earned runs and secured five strikeouts while being tabbed with his third loss of the season.
The Snappers pushed their extra-base hit streak to 23 games thanks to Hargrove's double. The streak began April 23rd against the Peoria Chiefs and the Snappers have totaled 43 doubles, six triples and 11 homeruns.
Jesus Lopez, Beck and Hargrove both secured two hits to lead the team. For Beck, it was his 14th multi-hit performance of the season.
First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The Snappers will send out right-hander Jean Ruiz (0-2, 5.19) and opposing him will be River Bandits' Peter Solomon (1-1. 2.55).
