The Beloit Snappers (9-12) forced extras with a run in the ninth, but the Fort Wayne TinCaps (13-14) defeated the Snappers 3-2 in 10 innings Thursday night at Parkview Field.

With Jalen Washington starting the 10th inning at second base, he was then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Reinaldo Ilaraza. Tre Carter then bounced a ground ball to first, as Snappers first baseman Hunter Hargrove came home but the throw was not on line and Washington slid under catcher Jordan Devencenzi's glove to score the winning run.
The Snappers entered the top of the ninth inning trailing 2-1, before Anthony Churlin led off the frame with a double to left field. After Miguel Mercedez grounded out, and Jesus Lopez struck out, the Snappers were down to their final out with Jake Lumley stepping to the dish.
Lumley then sent a ground ball to center, scoring Churlin to tie the game at 2 and force extras.
The TinCaps took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off Snappers starter Xavier Altamirano. Justin Lopez sent a two-run triple to right, scoring both Esteury Ruiz and Carlos Belen to take the early 2-0 lead.
The runs are all that Altamirano would issue, as the right-hander tossed seven innings allowing the two runs on four hits while tying a career-high eight strikeouts.
Beloit broke through in the third inning, as Devencenzi struck out on a wild pitch, however, Austin Beck scored from third to put the Snappers on the board as they trailed 2-1.
Hunter Hargrove extended his hitting streak to a team season-high six games with a base hit in the third inning, that allowed Beck to advance to third before scoring on the wild pitch.
Snappers reliever Seth Martinez took the ball from Altamirano to toss the eighth and ninth innings for the Snappers, as the right-hander did not yield a run while scattering two hits and struck out a season-high four batters.
Josh Reagan was tabbed with the loss, as the southpaw pitched the tenth inning as the TinCaps walked off with the series sweep. For Reagan, it was his second loss of the season, the Snappers fifth loss in a row and the teams sixth loss in a row on the road.
The Snappers now travel to face the Lake County Captains for a three-game set this weekend beginning Friday night. The Snappers will send left-hander Jared Poché (0-0, 3.29) and the Captains will counter with southpaw Juan Hillman (0-3, 6.11). First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CST.
