The Clinton Lumber Kings (10-3) completed the three-game series sweep over the Beloit Snappers (5-6) with a 5-1 victory Sunday afternoon from Ashford University Field in Clinton, IA.

Hits were hard to come by for the Snappers, as they registered just five hits for the game and did not record a hit until the sixth inning. Trace Loehr led off the Snappers top of the sixth with a base hit, to end the perfect game bid by the Lumber Kings pitching staff.
The Lumber Kings wasted no time getting on the board, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off the bat of Dimas Ojeda who hit a solo home run off Snappers starter Wyatt Marks.
Clinton then added a pair in the bottom half of the fourth inning, as Greifer Andrade singled home both Johnny Adams and Ryan Costello to up the Lumber Kings lead to 3-0 after four.
For Marks, it is the first time in his short professional career that he has surrendered three earned runs in and outing, and he was also tabbed with the first loss of his young career as well. The right-hander tossed four innings, allowing the three runs on four hits while walking three and he struck out five batters.
Right-hander Jean Ruiz took the mound for the fifth inning for the Snappers, and went the rest of the way surrendering a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. For Ruiz, he scattered two hits over those four innings while surrendering the two runs, with just one of which earned while striking out a pair.
Ruiz surrendered those runs on a two-run single by Ryan Scott to score Adams and Costello again to give the Lumber Kings a 5-0 lead.
The Snappers finally plated a run in the top of the ninth inning, as Nick Allen who singled to lead off the frame came around to score on a balk after being advanced to second on a base hit by Mickey McDonald and an Anthony Churlin groundout advanced both Allen and McDonald to third with Logan Farrar batting. Allen then scored on a balk to give the Snappers their lone run of the game, as Farrar would ground out to short to end the game.
The Snappers now return home for a seven-game home stand, beginning Monday night at Pohlman Field with a four-game series against the Peoria Chiefs. The Snappers will send right-hander Xavier Altamirano, and the Chiefs will counter with right-hander Winston Nicasio.
