Snappers Unable to Exterminate Bees As Comeback Falls Short

BELOIT, WI - The Snappers were unable to gain a lead in tonight's game at home, as their late inning comeback fell short as Beloit drops game one 5-6 to the Bees. The Snappers' bats were productive again tonight, but unfortunately they were unable to produce enough scoring chances for their offense to take advantage of.

Aiden McIntyre was slotted to start for his second career start versus Burlington tonight. This was his first start against the Bees since back on June 5th. Unfortunately, similar to June 5th, McIntyre would walk away from the night with the L. McIntyre provided 4.2 innings of 4 hit baseball, where he would strike out 8 batters. Unfortunately, he also walked 4 batters and gave up 4 runs, 3 of which were earned.
 
Beloit's bats would try to bail out McIntyre by tying the game at 3 in the 3rd inning. With runners on second and third, a wild pitch would score Marcos Brito and move Joseph Pena to third. Then a Max Schuemann single would score a second run, and after a Devin Foyle walk and stolen base, Nick Osborne would double to even the game at 3.
 
Richard Guasch would enter the game in the 5th inning as McIntyre's piggyback replacement. Guacsh would provide 3.1 innings of 2 hit and 4 strikeout baseball, but in similar fashion gave up 3 walks and 2 runs, both of which were earned. Calvin Coker would close out the game in the 9th with a clean inning with 2 strikeouts to keep the Snappers close and give their bats the opportunity to shine.
 
The Snappers did fight back late in the game as well. Down 6-3 in the 8th, a leadoff base-on-balls by Max Schuemann would begin their rally. A Devin Foyle RBI triple and Nick Osborne sacrifice fly would put the Snappers within 1 run, but that would be all the offense Beloit would be able to contribute this Saturday night.
 
While the Snappers did fall in tonight's series opener, they look to bounce back tomorrow in game 2 with Joe DeMers on the mound. DeMers in two times against the Bees has yet to record a decision in his 8 innings of work. Tomorrow will be DeMers' first start versus the Angels affiliate. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM at Pohlman Field, where the stadium is already completely sold out for the game.
