Two Former Snappers Named to MLB Futures Game

BELOIT, Wisc. - A pair of 2013 Beloit Snappers, Matt Olson and Renato Nunez, will play in the MLB Futures Game in Cincinnati on July 12th at 2:00 PM CST on MLB Network.

Olson will represent the U.S. team in Cincinnati. He was Beloit's first baseman in 2013, batting .225 with 32 doubles, 23 homers, and 93 RBI for the Snappers. In 2014, while playing in the California League for the Stockton Ports, Olson was fourth in Minor League Baseball with 37 home runs. This year in AA for the Midland Rockhounds, he has been batting .212 with 17 doubles, eight homers, and 34 RBI in 71 games. The 21 year old Atlanta, GA native is the #1 Oakland A's prospect according to MLB Pipeline and was drafted in the first round of the 2012 draft, 47th overall.

Nunez will represent the World Team in the Futures Game. He was the Snappers' third baseman in 2013. In Beloit he batted .258 with 27 doubles and 19 home runs with 85 RBI. This year in Midland, playing with Olson, Nunez is batting .238 with seven doubles, nine homers, and 26 RBI in 47 games. The 21 year old Venezuelan native is the #3 prospect for the Oakland A's according to MLB Pipeline.

The MLB Futures Game will be played in Cincinnati's Great American Ballpark on Sunday, July 12th at 2:00 PM CST on MLB Network.

The Snappers will be giving away a Matt Olson Bobblehead away to early arrivals at their game against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on July 11th, courtesy of TruGreen. Gates will open at 6:00 PM.
