The Biloxi Shuckers, Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, announced a pair of roster moves prior to their doubleheader against the Mobile BayBears on Thursday. Infielder Luis Aviles Jr. has been activated from the injured list, while catcher Robie Rojas has been transferred to the Rocky Mountain Vibes.
Aviles returns after being placed on the injured list on July 20. The 24-year-old has hit .255 in 75 games with Biloxi this season with 13 doubles, two home runs and 29 RBI. The Havana, Cuba native has scored 44 runs and stolen 25 bases this year. Despite missing nearly a month on the injured list, Aviles is still fourth in the Southern League in stolen bases. A 30th-round selection by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2013, Aviles was named a Southern League Midseason All-Star and started in the Southern League All-Star Game at shortstop for the South Division.
Rojas appeared in five games for the Shuckers over the last week, notching his first career triple in a pinch-hit appearance on August 8 against the Tennessee Smokies. In 12 games with the Shuckers this season, Rojas hit .296 with two doubles, a triple, two RBI's and five runs scored.
Biloxi continues their five-game series against the Mobile BayBears on Thursday night with a doubleheader. In Game One, the Shuckers will send LHP Cameron Roegner (5-4, 4.58) to the mound against BayBears LHP Greg Mahle (1-2, 1.80) for a scheduled 5:35 pm first pitch. Game Two will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game One. The Shuckers have named RHP Johan Belisario (9-1, 2.89) the starter for Game Two while Mobile will throw RHP Luis Madero (4-9, 5.91). The games can be heard locally in Biloxi on Cruisin' WGCM AM 1240/100.9 FM, TuneIn Radio or the MiLB First Pitch App and can be seen on MiLB.TV.
