C Rene Garcia placed on DL; C Parker Berberet returns from Colorado Springs
PEARL, MS. - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster moves that impact the Shuckers' roster prior to tonight's 6:00 pm game against the Mississippi Braves at Trustmark Park. C Rene Garcia has been placed on the 7-day DL and C Parker Berberet has been transferred to Biloxi from AAA Colorado Springs.
Berberet, 26, appeared in four games for the SkySox before being placed on the 7-day DL on August 18. In 15 games this season between Colorado Springs and Biloxi, Berberet has a .125 batting average (4x32) with two doubles, a home run and two RBI. In 342 Minor League games, the former Oregon State Beaver has a .247 career batting average with 62 doubles, 21 homers and 132 RBI.
Berberet was drafted by Milwaukee in the 25th round in 2011 out of Oregon State.
Garcia, 26, left Friday's game in the seventh inning with a hamstring injury. In 38 games for the Shuckers this season, Garcia is batting .225 (27x20) with three doubles and seven RBI. Behind the plate, Garcia has thrown out 29% of opposing base stealers (12x29) and a .993 fielding percentage.
In 17 games with AAA Colorado Springs this season, Garcia batted .290 (18x62) with four doubles and eight RBI.
Garcia was drafted by Houston in the 35th round in 2008 out of Puerto Rico. The San Juan, PR native was signed by Milwaukee on Nov. 19, 2015.
The Shuckers will attempt to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win in game three of the five-game set on Saturday night at Trustmark Park. RHP Taylor Jungmann (3-3, 2.33) goes for Biloxi against LHP Michael Mader (0-32.52) of the Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., with coverage starting at 5:40 p.m. on the Biloxi Shuckers' Radio Network's flagship station WGCM 1240 AM, 100.9 FM, Pascagoula's WPMO 1580 AM and the TuneIn Radio app.
