CHATTANOOGA, TN - Three home runs in the first four innings coupled with a dominant pitching performance from LHP Lewis Thorpe (W, 4-4) were enough for the Chattanooga Lookouts (37-33) to defeat the Biloxi Shuckers (41-30) 12-2 on Thursday night at AT&T Field. 
The Lookouts scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on three straight singles against Shuckers' RHP Luis Ortiz (L, 1-3). Tanner English tagged on another run with a leadoff home run in the second, his first of the season. Jimmy Kerrigan and Brent Rooker got to Ortiz for a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, hitting back-to-back home runs to give Chattanooga a 6-0 lead.
Thorpe struck out at least two in each of the first five innings, maintaining a perfect game through 4.2 frames. Blake Allemand broke a string of 14 straight retired with a two-out single in the fifth, the lone hit Thorpe allowed. All told, the Aussie struck out a career-high 12 batters and issued just one walk in seven scoreless innings of work.
Biloxi broke up the shutout in the ninth. Corey Ray walked to start the frame before Troy Stokes cranked a two-run homer over the left-field wall, his tenth of the season, giving the Shuckers their first runs of the game. Keston Hiura recorded his lone hit of the game, a double down the right field line, but was left stranded as the next three batters were retired in order. Trent Grisham extended his on-base streak to 15 games with a walk in the sixth, tying Nick Franklin for the longest on-base streak of the season for Biloxi. 
Game two of a six-game series is on Friday night at 6:15 PM CT. The Shuckers have not named a starter, while the Chattanooga Lookouts will send RHP Omar Bencomo (5-1, 2.23). The game can be heard on Cruisin' WCGM 1240 AM/ FM 100.9, TuneIn Radio or the MiLB First Pitch App.
