Wren to Colorado Springs, Roache joins Biloxi highlights roster moves

BILOXI, MS - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster moves that affect the Shuckers roster on Tuesday, prior to Biloxi starting the final series of the half on Wednesday night at MGM Park in Biloxi. OF Kyle Wren and RHP Hiram Burgos have been transferred from Biloxi to AAA Colorado Springs. Former first round pick, OF Victor Roache has transferred from A+ Brevard County to Biloxi and RHP Martin Viramontes was transferred Rookie-Helena to Biloxi.

Wren, 24, named a midseason Southern League All-Star has been promoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs after posting a .300 average in 60 games for the Shuckers with six doubles, 13 RBI, 20 stolen bases and a .370 on-base percentage. The West Palm Beach, FL native had 12 multi-hit games in his last 19 played, with five three-hit performances dating back to May 24. He ranks T-3rd in all of MiLB with 32 hits since May 24 and has boosted his average from .264 to .300 over that span. Wren batted.397 in 19 June games and had a .435 on-base percentage. Wren was acquired by the Brewers from Atlanta on November 11, 2014 in exchange for RHP Zack Quintana. He was originally taken by the Braves in the 8th round in 2013 out of Georgia Tech.

Burgos, 27, made five starts for the Shuckers, going 3-0 with a 3.68 ERA with 36 strikeouts and 12 walks over 29.1 innings pitched including back-to-back quality starts on June 4 at Birmingham and June 9 vs. Mobile. Combined between Biloxi and Advanced-A Brevard County, Burgos is 5-4 with a 3.93 ERA in 12 starts this season.

Roache, 23, the Brewers' first round selection in 2012 (28th overall) joins the Biloxi outfield. The Georgia Southern product is rated by MLB.com as the No. 13 prospect in the organization. In 63 games with the Brevard County Manatees in the Florida State League, Roache batted .259 with 11 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs (T-1st in FSL), 36 RBI, 109 total bases (2nd in FSL) and three stolen bases. Roache is T-3rd in the FSL in extra-base hits with 23 and 4th in slugging, .448.

Viramontes, 25, rejoins the Shuckers and has posted no record in 15 relief appearances with Biloxi and an 8.58 ERA. Viramontes was Milwaukee's 28th round selection in 2012 out of the University of Southern California.

The Shuckers have today off before starting a five-game series with the Montgomery Biscuits at MGM Park on Wednesday. RHP Jorge Lopez (4-2, 3.34) will make his 12th start of the season for Biloxi and face off against RHP Ryne Stanek (2-0, 2.29). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m., with coverage beginning at 6:55 p.m. on 1240-AM WGCM, 1580-AM WPMO and the Biloxi Shuckers Radio Network.
