Bowling Green Bounces Back With 10-3 Win Over Hub City

Bowling Green, Kentucky – Ryan McCoy’s two-homer night powered the Bowling Green Bootleggers (73-31, 26-13) past the Hub City Spartanburgers (47-57, 13-25) in a 10-3 victory on Thursday night at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Starting pitcher Trevor Harrison dominated with 5.0 scoreless innings, striking out seven Hub City hitters. Bowling Green pitching fanned 13 batters in the win.

The Bootleggers drew first blood with one run in the bottom of the second against Spartanburgers starting pitcher Kamden Perry. Three consecutive walks loaded the bases with no outs. Bryan Broecker hit into a double play that scored Ryan Cermak from third base, giving Bowling Green a 1-0 advantage.

The hosts tagged four runs against Perry in the bottom of the fourth inning. McCoy blasted a two-run home run to make it 3-0. Noah Myers scored on a Perry wild pitch, and Broecker crossed home on a double steal attempt, making it 5-0 Bootleggers.

Bowling Green tallied two more runs against Hub City reliever Cole Roland in the bottom of the sixth. Myers laced a single, stole second, and scored on a Juanfel Peguero RBI single for a 6-0 edge. Jhon Diaz smoked a double to plate Peguero, upping the lead to 7-0.

The Spartanburgers briefly got back in the game with a three-run top of the seventh inning against reliever Jackson Lancaster. Marcos Torres hit a leadoff home run to make it 7-1. Antonis Macias singled, and Cal Stark drilled a two-run homer to center, pulling Bowling Green’s lead to 7-3.

The Bootleggers plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh against Roland. Tony Santa Maria socked a solo home run to left field for an 8-3 margin. Narciso Polanco singled and McCoy drove a two-run shot to right field, increasing the Bowling Green advantage to 10-3.

Left-hander Garrett Gainey wrapped things up with 2.0 scoreless innings, cementing a 10-3 final score.

Harrison (3-1) earned the win, hurling 5.0 shutout frames, allowing two hits and two walks while adding seven strikeouts. Perry (0-4) took the loss, giving up five runs on three hits, five walks, and one strikeout in 3.0 innings pitched.

Bowling Green and Hub City play game four of a six-game series on Friday night at 6:35 PM CT. The Hot Rods will send RHP Jack Kartsonas (6-3, 4.43) to the hill against Spartanburgers RHP Caden Scarborough (0-4, 3.71).
