BRADENTON, Fla. - After a delay of 40 minutes delayed the first game of a four game series between the Bradenton Marauders and the Jupiter Hammerheads, an explosive night offensively followed for the home side at LECOM Park on Thursday. The Marauders set season highs in runs in the win with 12, hits with 18, and tied a season high with the nine run victory.

After both sides traded a run each in the first inning including Jared Oliva's second leadoff home run and fifth bomb of the season, neither team scored until a run until Bradenton had an outburst at the plate unmatched so far in the 2018 season. Six runs scored in the fourth inning on six hits including three doubles and the first of Tyler Gaffney's two triples in the game. A similar explosion took place in the very next inning, albeit to the tune of only five runs. Five hits including another pair of doubles ended the Marauders offensive night, but it was enough offense and then some, as three Marauders pitchers limited the first place Hammerheads to three runs on six hits.

Luis Escobar earned his second consecutive win while tossing six full innings on 89 pitches, including two runs of four hits while fanning six batters, his second highest mark so far on the season. Jess Amedee worked through his longest outing of the year, as the reliever threw 52 pitches over two innings, while Scooter Hightower finished the game on the mound in the ninth, and struck out Jupiter shortstop Joe Dunand to end the contest.

The Marauders continue the four game series against Jupiter on Friday, now only trailing them in the Florida State League's South Division by three and a half games. LHP Cam Vieaux will start for Bradenton and will be opposed by RHP Jorge Guzman for Jupiter, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm on Margaritaville Night at LECOM Park.
