Bradenton, Fla. - Five Bradenton Marauders have been named Florida State League Mid-Season All-Stars. Jin-De Jhang, JaCoby Jones, Reese McGuire, Austin Meadows, and Jose Osuna were named to the South Division All-Star Team. Osuna was promoted to Double-A and will be unable to participate in the game. The 54th Florida State League All-Star Game will be played at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie on Saturday, June 20, at 7:00 p.m. Five all-star selections matches the second highest total for the Marauders in the six year history of the franchise.
Meadows is a 20-year-old outfielder from Atlanta, GA. He is batting .292 with a pair of home runs while patrolling center field for the Marauders. He has scored 31 runs and driven in 19. His 27 walks are the fourth highest total in the FSL and his on-base percentage (.372) is fifth among qualifying batters. On May 14 he became the fourth Marauders batter to ever record five hits in a single game. Selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2013 Draft, Baseball America rates Meadows as the third best prospect in the Pirates organization. MLB.com tabbed Meadows as the fourth best prospect in the Pittsburgh system. Meadows is in his third season of professional baseball. He was a 2013 Gulf Coast League Post-Season All-Star in his debut season.
McGuire is a 20-year-old catcher from Covington, WA. He is batting .259 and leads the team with 10 stolen bases. He has thrown out 14 opposing base stealers this season. Selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2013 Draft, Baseball America and MLB.com rate McGuire as the fifth best prospect in the Pirates organization. McGuire is in his third season of professional baseball. His prior all-star recognitions include being named a 2014 South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star and placement on the 2013 Gulf Coast League Post-Season All-Star Team.
Jones is a 23-year-old infielder from Richton, MS. He is Bradenton's starting shortstop and is batting .279 and leads the team in home runs (7), RBIs (35), and runs scored (33). His RBI total is the second highest in the FSL and he stands third in the league in runs scored. He has stolen nine bases on 11 tries. Selected in the third round of the 2013 Draft out of LSU, Baseball America and MLB.com rank Jones as the Pirates 13th best prospect. Jones is in his third season of professional baseball. He was recognized in 2014 as a South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star.
Jhang is a 22-year-old catcher from Taitung City, Taiwan. He is batting .315, a mark that stands third in the FSL. This is Jhang's second season with the Marauders and his fourth season of professional baseball. He has previously received All-Star recognition in the New York Penn League and the Gulf Coast League.
Osuna is a 22-year-old outfielder and first baseman from Trujillo, Venezuela. He has been promoted to Double-A Altoona where he hit safely in each of his first six games. Osuna hit .282 with four home runs and collected 29 RBIs with Bradenton before the promotion. He played with the Marauders in each of the previous two seasons and ranked among the league leaders in batting average and slugging percentage in 2014. Osuna is in his fifth season of professional baseball.
