BRADENTON, Fla. - In the first game of a four game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers, the Bradenton Marauders were defeated in part due to a three run eighth inning for the visitors at LECOM Park on Monday night. RHP and 2015 Marauder Clay Holmes made his only expected start with Bradenton in order to stay in rotation to pitch Saturday in the big leagues, working through six innings including nine strikeouts as he reached 97 miles per hour on his fastball in a no decision. MLB rehabber Sean Rodríguez was in Bradenton because of the Double and Triple A All-Star breaks and knocked a base hit and played shortstop in the first of his three expected appearances for the Marauders.

Bradenton's only run was plated in the home half of the second inning. Albert Baur led off the frame with a single through the shift to right field and was scored on a Bligh Madris single followed by a fielding error and a throwing error that sent Madris to third base. He would not advance any farther, nor would any member of the home team in a dominant bullpen showing for Lakeland. The ultimate decision went to Burris Warner who worked through two innings with a hit and earned his third win on the season. Florida State League saves leader Eduardo Jiménez stretch out his lead league with his 13th save of the year in 15 tries, pitching a scoreless ninth that ended with the tying run in the form of Lucas Tancas striking out looking.

The Marauders continue their four game series at home with the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Tuesday night. Pirates #1 overall prospect and 2017 Marauder Mitch Keller will take the hill for Bradenton in order to stay in rotation for the MLB Futures Game next week in Washington D.C.; Keller will be opposed by Tigers #3 prospect Matt Manning in a battle of top arms for their respective systems beginning at 6:30 pm.
