FORT MYERS, Fla. - In the first game at Hammond Stadium in 2018 between the Bradenton Marauders and the Fort Myers Miracle, a three run outburst in the inaugural inning sparked a nine run victory for the Marauders on Monday night. James Marvel was excellent in the outing, earning his second straight victory to move to 4-3 on the season.

Arden Pabst drove home two of the three runs in the first inning on his fourth home run of the season, a line drive that hooked around the left field foul pole. The score would remain 3-0 until the visitor's half of the seventh, when the Marauders erupted for four runs with a little help from the Fort Myers. The four runs scored on just a pair of hits, as the Miracle defense committed three errors and two batters were walked, one intentionally in the frame to bring the score to 7-0 after seven innings. Bradenton added an additional run in each of the last two innings, including Albert Baur's fifth home run of the season on a sharp drive that just cleared the wall in right field in the top of the ninth. Baur now leads the club in long balls with five and extended his team lead in runs batted with three in the contest to bring his season total to 26.

James Marvel spread out six hits through his six innings of work to earn his second straight win while also moving ahead of Cam Vieaux in the team lead in strikeouts with three tonight to bring his season total to 37. Three bullpen arms tossed an inning apiece, with Adam Oller working a perfect seventh including a strikeout, Jordan Jess tossing the eighth from the left side while allowing a hit and striking out a batter, while Mike Wallace closed out the ninth on a couple of groundouts and a lineout in the infield.

The Marauders continue the second series of 2018 against Fort Myers on Tuesday with LHP Oddy Nunez on the hill; first pitched scheduled for 11 am.
