DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - In the final game of a three game weekend series between the Bradenton Marauders and the Daytona Tortugas at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, the road side was able to ride an early lead to victory to take the first and final games of the set. RHP Mike Wallace worked through 6.2 innings in a victory, besting his previous season high of 6.1 innings by a single out before giving up two base hits with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to end his night. Wallace moved his overall 2018 mark to 4-6 and lowered his ERA from 4.99 to 4.63 in the win to move him to 2-5 as a starter for Bradenton.

The offense did not wait long to strike, with leadoff hitter Jared Oliva doubling to start off the game off Daytona starter LHP Wennington Romero, who took his fifth loss of the year when all was said and done. Oliva scored on a double play and Daytona matched the opening frame tally in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly. With two runners on and two outs in the top of the third inning, Lucas Tancas drove in a pair of runs on his 21st RBI of the season, the only two runs batted in in the game for the Marauders. The final run for the visiting side came with the bases loaded in the fourth inning when John Bormann, playing in his first game of the season for the Marauders after making a one game appearance with the Pirates last season, scampered home from third on a wild pitch to finish the scoring for Bradenton until the top of the ninth inning when Jared Oliva scored his second run of the game to extend his Florida State League leading total to 62 on the 2018 campaign.

The Marauders head back home on Monday to open up a six game homestand by welcoming in the Jupiter Hammerheads for a three game set at LECOM Park. RHP Nick Burdi is scheduled to make his debut in a Pirates uniform following up Tommy John Surgery in the opening game, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm.
