Canadians fans get together to celebrate Blue Jays Opening Day
April 3, 2013

(Vancouver, B.C.) - "This is the year," shouted one fan just seconds after the Blue Jays ran out onto the field at Rogers Centre to kick off the 2013 MLB season.  The beauty of the moment came in the fact that the bellowing voice belonged to a fan that was more than 4,000 kilometers from the game itself.

Fans of the Vancouver Canadians and Toronto Blue Jays got together on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 to celebrate both the game of baseball and the start of the Major League Baseball season which included Canada's Blue Jays taking on the Cleveland Indians.

"I love the Canadians, and well, I love the Blue Jays," said Karen Schellenburg from her seat at Mahony & Sons who was gracious enough to host the Canadians event.

"It's been a long time since I felt this passionate about the Blue Jays and I think the Canadians partnering up with them has made me pay more attention to them".

There is alot of reason to pay attention to the Blue Jays after an off-season that was more active than any other in Major League Baseball.  From trades that brought Jose Reyes, Mark Buerhle, Josh Johnson and R.A. Dickey to Toronto to free-agent signings like Melky Cabrera - the Blue Jays have been the talk of North American baseball for months - but now, it is time to put wins up on the field.

"95 wins," projected Scott Dowling who watched as the Blue Jays battled Cleveland on Opening Night at Mahony & Sons.

"I think in this tough division, you will need at least 95 to make the playoffs".

Toronto didn't manage a win on Opening night, falling 4-1 to the Indians, but fans at Mahony & Sons could have cared less as baseball is back and wearing Blue Jays 'blue' has never felt better.
