Dale Murphy Set to Meet Fans on August 11

February 19, 2015

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Three years after appearing at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC during the 2012 season, two-time National League MVP Dale Murphy will return to the Carolinas and make his BB&T Ballpark debut to sign autographs for fans on Tuesday, August 11, presented by Carolina Tire Pros. Back by popular demand, the former Atlanta Braves slugger will meet and greet fans on the same night the Knights host the Gwinnett Braves -- the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Originally drafted by the Braves in the first round (fifth overall pick) of the 1974 amateur draft, "The Murph" played in 18 Major League seasons and won the NL MVP in 1982 and again in 1983. He led the National League in home runs twice and hit over 30 home runs in a season six times. The Portland, OR native launched a career-high 44 home runs in 1987.

Murphy retired from baseball after the 1993 season with a career .265 batting average, 398 home runs, and 1,266 RBIs. Among some of his accomplishments, he is a seven-time National League All-Star, a five-time Gold Glove award-winner, and four-time winner of the Silver Slugger award. On June 13, 1994, the Atlanta Braves retired his #3 jersey.

Single-game tickets for all games this season are available by phone at 704-274-8282, in person at the BB&T Ballpark Ticket Office, or online at charlotteknights.com. Uptown Knights Are Better Than Ever!
