Jacob Turner Promoted to Chicago

Carlos Sanchez Optioned, Jacob May Placed on DL

(PAWTUCKET, RI) -- Right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner had his contract purchased by the Chicago White Sox today. Turner, 25, will take the 25-man roster spot of infielder Carlos Sanchez, who was optioned to Charlotte from Chicago. To make room on Chicago's 40-man roster, former Knights third baseman Matt Davidson was placed on Chicago's 60-day disabled list. In one other roster move, outfielder Jacob May was placed on Charlotte's disabled list.

Turner is the 17th different player promoted to the Chicago White Sox this season from Charlotte. RHP Erik Johnson (April 19, May 5 & May 23), catcher Kevan Smith (April 24), RHP Miguel Gonzalez (April 25 & May 9), catcher Hector Sanchez (April 26), RHP Daniel Webb (April 27), infielder Carlos Sanchez (April 28 & July 1), RHP Tommy Kahnle (April 29, May 5, May 23 & June 3), RHP Scott Carroll (May 6), LHP Matt Purke (May 13), outfielder J.B. Shuck (May 30), outfielder Jason Coats (June 4 & June 10), shortstop Tim Anderson (June 10), RHP Michael Ynoa (June 14), RHP Chris Beck (June 21), 3B Matt Davidson (June 30), catcher Omar Narvaez (July 6), all have earned promotions this year.

Turner has started 18 games for the Charlotte Knights this season and owns a 4-7 record with a 4.71 ERA in 107.0 innings pitched. The St. Charles, MO native tossed a complete game shutout against the Gwinnett Braves on June 24. His nine-inning complete game was the first for a Charlotte Knights pitcher since July 3, 2015 when RHP Brad Penny allowed two runs over nine innings for a complete game victory over the G-Braves at BB&T Ballpark. The last nine-inning complete game shutout by a Knights hurler was thrown by Wes Whisler on July 28, 2009 in Syracuse. Turner was claimed by the White Sox off waivers on October 27, 2015.

May has appeared in 58 games with the Knights this season and is hitting .244 (50-for-205) with 26 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple, one home run, 15 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.
