September 8, 2006
FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights and Chicago White Sox announced today that the two clubs have agreed on a Player Development Contract that extends through the end of the 2010 season.

"We have enjoyed a very positive relationship with the Chicago White Sox over the last several Years" states Don Beaver, President and Owner of the Charlotte Knights. "The White Sox are a very professional organization from top to bottom and we look forward to four more years of a partnership. As we build towards the future and a potential new uptown ballpark we are pleased to have the support of our partners."

Chicago White Sox Director of Player Development Dave Wilder said, "We're ecstatic to announce our continued partnership with Charlotte. The Chicago White Sox and Charlotte have been associated for a long time and this is the best situation we could be in. It gives us the opportunity to base our Triple-A affiliate in a major city with such great support and also be able to maintain a close proximity to our other minor league clubs."

The Knights will return home TONIGHT (7:15 p.m.) to take on the visiting Toledo Mud Hens in game three of the best of five series. Heath Phillips, who spent the last month with Team USA will get the start for the Knights.
