(DURHAM, NC) -- LHP Jordan Guerrero dazzled over 6.2 shutout innings, and center fielder Jacob May recorded four hits to lead the Charlotte Knights to a 4-2 victory over the Durham Bulls in game one of their four-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC on Thursday night. The win was Charlotte's 41st of the season and ninth in 15 games against the Bulls in 2018.

Making just his third career Triple-A start, Guerrero (2-0, 2.16) pitched into the seventh inning on Thursday and allowed just two hits and one walk en route to his second win of the season with the Knights. The 24-year-old right-hander struck-out seven batters on the evening and tossed 79 pitches (55 for strikes). RHP Rob Scahill came on in relief of Guerrero in the seventh inning and got the final out to send the Knights to the eighth inning with a 2-0 lead.

Offensively, May led the way for the Knights with a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate. He had two of Charlotte's four doubles on the night and got the team on the scoreboard for the first time in the top of the seventh inning with an RBI single. The team combined to tally a total of 12 hits in the opener. Catcher Seby Zavala and third baseman Patrick Leonard chipped in with two hits apiece.

RHP Ian Hamilton recorded the final four outs of the game to earn his fourth save of the season. Hamilton, who came on in the eighth inning, ran into a bit of trouble in the ninth, but escaped a jam to earn his fourth save in four tries with the Knights.

The Knights will continue the four-game series from Durham, NC on Friday night against the Bulls. Pre-game radio coverage of Friday's 7:05 p.m. game is set for 6:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action.
