(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) -- For the second consecutive night, right fielder Trayce Thompson recorded a clutch hit to lead the Knights to a victory.

A night after he singled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning at BB&T Ballpark, Thompson launched a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning on Friday to propel the Charlotte Knights to a 4-3 win over the Gwinnett Stripers in the opening game of their four-game series from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. The win was Charlotte's second in as many days.

LHP Jordan Guerrero (7-2, 3.46) started for the Knights and struck-out nine batters over six solid innings to earn his seventh win of the season with the team. Guerrero gave up three runs on eight hits. He tossed 110 pitches on the night and won his third straight start. RHP Tyler Danish pitched two shutout innings in relief of Guerrero. RHP Gregory Infante ran into a bit of trouble in the ninth inning, but recorded the final three outs to earn his ninth save of the season.

Both the Knights and Stripers recorded 10 hits apiece in the game. Left fielder Eloy Jiménez, the top prospect in the Chicago White Sox system, went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Thompson and center fielder Ryan Cordell also finished with two hits each.

The Knights will continue their four-game series against the Stripers on Saturday night with game two of the set. Pre-game coverage of the 6:05 p.m. game will begin at 5:50 p.m. on www.CharlotteKnights.com.
