(ROCHESTER, NY) -- Shortstop José Rondόn launched his team-high 16th home run of the season as the Charlotte Knights powered their way past the Rochester Red Wings by a score of 8-2 on Friday night in the opening game of their three-game series from Frontier Field in Rochester, NY.

The Knights tallied 12 hits on the night with Rondόn once again leading the way with the long ball. The 24-year-old recorded a solo home run in the third inning. Overall, he had two hits and scored two runs in the game for the Knights, who earned their 53rd win of the season. Catcher Seby Zavala and center fielder Charlie Tilson also played key roles in Friday's opener. Zavala notched a game-high three hits, while Tilson collected a game-high three RBIs.

LHP Jordan Guerrero (4-1, 2.66) made his eighth start of the season with the Knights and was sharp over six innings of work. Guerrero allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits en route to his fourth win of the season. He threw 97 pitches and struck-out seven batters. Relievers Caleb Frare , Gregory Infante , and Ryan Burr held the 'Wings scoreless over the final three innings of the game.

The Knights will continue their three-game series against the Rochester Red Wings on Saturday night from Frontier Field.
