Knights Shut Out the Bulls 4-0 on Friday

(DURHAM, NC) -- RHP Mike Wright tossed 5.2 shutout innings and designated hitter Yermín Mercedes launched a solo homer to lead the Charlotte Knights to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Durham Bulls from Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Friday night.

The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning thanks to Mercedes, who hit his fifth home run of the season with the Knights.

Four batters later, second baseman Matt Reynolds added an RBI single to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. Charlotte added two more runs in the fifth inning to cruise to victory.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez continued his major league rehab stint and went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice-fly RBI in the fifth.

Wright (6-3, 3.09) pitched into the sixth inning on Friday and allowed just two hits and no runs to the first-place Bulls. The 31-year-old right-hander struck-out seven batters on the evening and lowered his ERA to 3.09 on the season. Relivers Nik Turley (1.1 IP), Lane Ramsey (1.0 IP) and Connor Sadzeck (1.0 IP) combined to hold the Bulls scoreless and hitless over the final 3.1 innings.

Friday's win snapped Charlotte's 11-game losing streak, the longest in franchise history.
