Morel and Purcey Promoted

(Fort Mill, SC) - Third baseman Brent Morel and reliever David Purcey were both promoted to the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, July 3. The Charlotte duo took the roster spots of 1B Paul Konerko and reliever Jesse Crain, who were both placed on the disabled list on Wednesday. Morel was recalled to Chicago, while Purcey had his contract purchased. 

It was an interesting day for Purcey, who was selected as an International League All-Star earlier in the day. Purcey, 31, was 0-2 with a 3.03 ERA and three saves for the Knights in 26 games this season. In 38.2 innings pitched, Purcey struck-out 43 batters and left-handers hit just .146 (6-41) against him. 

As for Morel, the California native earned his second promotion to the White Sox this season. Morel was hitting .283 with five home runs and 40 RBIs for the Knights in 68 games. Morel hit .222 (2-9) in three games with the White Sox last week. 

The Knights have promoted 10 players to the White Sox this season. Purcey joined Deunte Heath, Tyler Greene, Jordan Danks, Blake Tekotte, Brian Omogrosso, Donnie Veal, Ramon Troncoso, Brent Morel, and Simon Castro
