CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Knights capped off their six-game homestand on Sunday evening with a 5-2 victory over the Memphis Redbirds. Shane Murphy delivered an excellent starting pitching performance and MLB rehabber Kyle Teel led the way offensively with three hits.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Knights capped off their six-game homestand on Sunday evening with a 5-2 victory over the Memphis Redbirds. Shane Murphy delivered an excellent starting pitching performance and MLB rehabber Kyle Teel led the way offensively with three hits.

The win was Charlotte’s third straight and clinched a four-games-to-two series win for the home team. Murphy’s day consisted of seven innings pitched and only one, unearned, run allowed.

The Redbirds pushed their first tally across in the top of the second inning, but the Knights responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half. Riley Unroe and Ryan Galanie both connected with RBI singles while Rikuu Nishida netted an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Teel provided two key insurance runs for the home team with a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh. The Knights catcher finished the contest 3-for-4 at the plate.

Murphy then turned the ball over to the bullpen in the eighth inning. Peyton Pallette and Jaden Woods took care of the final two frames handily. Woods notched his fourth save of the season and induced a game-ending double play to seal the win.

The Knights are back on the road beginning on Tuesday with a six-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers. Charlotte returns to Truist Field on September 8 for their final homestand of the 2026 season.
