Lookouts End Series With A Bang

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Lookouts claimed the series finale, 10-6, over the Birmingham Barons on Sunday night from AT&T Field.

Raudy Read got the scoring started for Birmingham (35-40) with a solo home run.

The Lookouts answered, putting up five runs in the bottom of the first including a bases-clearing double from Michael De Leon to score three runs to cap off the inning.

The Barons regained the lead in the fourth putting up five runs of their own thanks to the help of two errors by the hosts.

Chattanooga (36-39) quickly responded knotting things at six with a De Leon single to score Ivan Johnson.

Allan Cerda then hammered one over the left-field wall, scoring two, to give the Lookouts the lead that they never relinquished.

The hosts then added some insurance runs in the eighth and Pedro Garcia pitched a gem in the ninth as they held on for the, 10-6, win.

Alex McGarry extended his hit streak to 16 games with a single in the eighth, finishing 1-for-5. De Leon paced the Lookout offense with a 3-for-4 night with three doubles and four RBIs. Allan Cerda finished the game 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

J.C. Keys (1-0) got the win for Chattanooga pitching 3.1 innings in relief allowing just a hit, and two walks, and struck out a batter. Garcia picked up his fifth save of the year pitching the final two innings, giving up a hit while fanning three.

Read led the Baron attack with a 3-for-5 contest with a pair of home runs and five RBIs. Felix Paulino (3-4) was tagged with the loss for the guests pitching 2.1 innings allowing two runs on four hits, a walk, and struck out three batters.

Chattanooga now travels to Rocket City with a six-game set beginning tomorrow beginning at 7:35 p.m. EST. The Lookouts then travel to Pensacola for a week before returning home on July 22 when they play host to the Tennessee Smokies. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.
