JUPITER, FL – Jonathan Hogart drove in a career-high six RBIs after a go-ahead grand slam put the Clearwater Threshers (60-40, 20-14) ahead for good in a 9-2 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads (49-52, 12-23) in six innings at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday night. The Threshers look for their third-straight win when they return for the series finale on Sunday.

Robert Phelps led off the game with a single off Hammerheads’ hurler Dameivi Tineo. He advanced to second on an error before Jupiter loaded the bases on a walk and a hit by pitch. On a 3-1 count, Hogart opened the scoring with a grand slam to make it 4-0. Jupiter cut the Threshers’ lead in half with two runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single. A leadoff single by Victor Cardoza began the top of the second inning, and he took second base when Mark Kolozsvary drew a one-out walk. After a wild pitch sent Cardoza to third, a two-out single by Hogart padded the Threshers’ advantage to three runs.

With one out in the top of the third inning, Matthew Ferrara launched a solo home run to left-center field to bring the Threshers' lead back to four runs. With two outs in the frame, a double from Cardoza and an RBI single by Phelps extended their advantage to five runs. Nolan Beltran began a rally with a one-out double off Davidxon Lara in the top of the sixth inning. Hogart drove him in on a single up the middle to increase the lead to six runs. After the second out of the inning, Macon Winslow tripled off the left-center field wall to score Hogart from first base, stretching Clearwater’s advantage to nine runs before a rain delay stalled the game with two outs in the frame. The game ended shortly after the delay, with the Threshers clinching the series with a 9-2 victory in six innings.

Matthew Fisher surrendered two runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 4.0 innings of a no-decision. Giussepe Velásquez (2-0) earned the win in 1.0 scoreless and hitless inning with one strikeout.
