ST. LUCIE, FL - Left-hander Gabriel Cotto impressed on the mound, but the Clearwater Threshers dropped a 4-3 affair to the St. Lucie Mets on Thursday night at Clover Park.

Cotto finished with nine strikeouts in only 4.1 innings of work and allowed just one hit, an infield single, and one earned run.

The Threshers (0-6) used an RBI groundout by Alexis Azuaje, a Mets error and a solo home run from Arturo De Freitas to build a 3-0 lead at the end of four innings.

The Mets (5-1) responded however, scoring in the next three frames to scratch across four unanswered runs and prevail for a third consecutive win in the six-game series.

Clearwater and St. Lucie meet again on Friday night at 6:10 p.m. LHP Rafael Marcano is expected to start for the Threshers opposite RHP Mike Vasil.
