CLEARWATER, FL - The Clearwater Threshers opened a six-game homestand against the Tampa Tarpons with a 2-1 walk-off win in front of 4,039 on Tuesday night at BayCare Ballpark.

Right-hander Micah Ottenbreit made his second start of the season for Clearwater, allowing only one run on two hits and striking out three in 2.2 innings of work.

The Threshers (2-8) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a balk call, while the Tarpons (6-4) loaded the bases in the third and tied the contest 1-1 on a bases loaded hit by pitch.

Righty Rodolfo Sanchez was impressive in relief for the Threshers, allowing no hits and striking out four in two innings to keep the game even.

Tied 1-1 in the ninth, the Threshers used a leadoff single by Jadiel Sanchez, a sac-bunt from Kendall Simmons and an error to put runners on second and third with nobody out. Following a fly out by Marcus Lee Sang, catcher Arturo De Freitas crushed a single up the middle to give Clearwater its first home win of the season.

Clearwater and Tampa square off in game two of the six-game series on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
