CORPUS CHRISTI - The Frisco RoughRiders employed 13 singles and a strong start by Leandro Lopez to clip the Hooks, 5-1, Thursday night before 4,191 fans at Whataburger Field.

Corpus Christi starter James Hicks stranded a hit in the first but four more knocks came through in the second, including a two-run effort by Keith Jones II. Following a 1-2-3 third, Hicks was undone by Frainyer Chavez's two-out, two-run single.

Amilcar Chirinos, rehabbing Astro Enyel De Los Santos, Alejandro Torres, and Railin Perez each turned in scoreless relief for CC, with Perez dispatching both batters he faced in the ninth.

The Hooks worked six walks but were held to three singles. A two-out bunt by Yamal Encarnacion in the fifth marked CC's first hit of the game. Joseph Sullivan followed by sending a single through the right side. Walker Janek then worked a walk before Lucas Spence was hit by a pitch to put the Hooks on the board.

Janek went 0-for-3 with a walk in his pro debut at Whataburger Field. The Gregory-Portland Wildcat and Astros catching prospect threw out a runner trying to steal second base in the second.
