DAYTONA BEACH, FL - LHP Scott Moss tossed seven shutout innings in Daytona's 8-0 win against the Jupiter Hammerheads Friday night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Moss won his six straight decision, becoming the first pitcher in the FSL to reach nine victories.
The game was scoreless all the way until the fourth inning, when Daytona sent nine to the plate to put a five spot on the board. Brantley Bell led off the inning with a double and Taylor Trammell followed by working a walk. Bruce Yari then came up and hit a single, scoring Bell and moving Trammell up to second. Ibandel Isabel then turned the 1-0 Daytona lead into a 4-0 lead with a three-run big fly to center field, his 20th of the year. Alberti Chavez made it a 5-0 lead when he drove in Daniel Sweet from third with a sacrifice fly to center.
Daytona extended their lead to 6-0 in the bottom half of the seventh against Jupiter's bullpen. Randy Ventura walked to start the inning and scored from first on a Bell double, his third extra-base hit of the night.
The Tortugas scored two in the eighth to round out the scoring. Isabel led off the frame with a four-pitch walk and moved first-to-third on a Sweet double. Isabel would score from third when Aaron Knapp dropped a pop-up in left field. Sweet came in to score from third on a Chavez single later in the inning to make it 8-0.
Moss (9-2) allowed just two hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings, while striking out eight.  RHP Cody Poteet (0-1) took the loss in his return to the FSL. He allowed five runs on eight hits with two walks in six innings. He struck out nine in the losing effort.
