Auburn, NY - The Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League, Single-A Short-Season affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce the hiring of Evan Stockton as their play-by-play radio voice for the 2017 season.
Stockton, originally from Michigan, will be coming on board this season after spending the last three seasons doing play by play for the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL). Stockton brings a great deal of experience to the position beyond The Crunch, providing play by play for the Chatham Anglers (2017), of the Cape Cod Baseball League, local high school sports in Syracuse and Michigan, and work in production through various media outlets.
"I'm extremely honored to be a part of the Doubledays team," Stockton said in a statement. "The tradition of excellence in the organization extends from the team on the field to up in the broadcast booth, and I'm excited to add that tradition."
Stockton will bring a great deal of experience and energy to the press box at Leo Pinckney Field at Falcon Park. He is currently enrolled at The SI Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, following in the footsteps of greats like Mike Tirico and Bob Costas.
"We are extremely excited to add another valuable piece to our team this season. Evan brings a great deal of experience, enthusiasm, and excitement that will offer a fresh spin to our radio broadcasts this season," Adam Winslow said. "We, as a team, feel that he can bring a new and exciting perspective to our broadcasts, and help create more buzz around this community's team."
The Doubledays will open the 2017 season at the Batavia Muckdogs on Friday, June 19th and start the season at home vs. the Muckdogs on June 20th at Leo Pinckney Field @ Falcon Park. Season ticket plans are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Doubledays' office at (315) 255-2489.
