Brujan Named Rays Minor League Player of the Month

Bulls infielder/outfielder Vidal Brujan on Sunday was named the Tampa Bay Rays’ Minor League Player of the Month for the month of May by the Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Operations Department.
In 22 games for Durham last month, Brujan posted a .315 average (28-89), adding 20 runs, three doubles, seven homers and 21 RBI, adding nine steals in ten attempts. During the month of May he ranked tied for first among Triple-A players in steals, in addition to fourth in runs and tied for fifth in RBI. The 25-year-old was also one of only two players in all of minor league baseball to steal at least seven bases and smash at least seven home runs in the month of May. He also recorded at least one hit in 17 of 22 May contests.
Brujan also paced the Bulls in most offensive categories during the month of May, including batting average, runs scored, hits, RBI, walks, steals, on-base percentage (.408) and total bases (52). He also ranked second among Durham players in on-base plus slugging percentage (.992) and third in extra-base hits (ten).
Overall this season, Brujan owns a .305 batting average (32-105), adding 25 runs, four doubles, seven homers and 21 RBI, adding 17 walks, 13 steals, a .402 on-base percentage, .543 slugging percentage and .944 on-base plus slugging percentage.
The Bulls are set to complete their six-game series with the Norfolk Tides on Sunday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05pm ET. RHP Luis Patino (0-1, 27.00) is slated to toe the rubber for the Bulls, while the Tides are expected to give the nod to RHP Kyle Bradish (1-0, 3.24).
