Bulls catcher Logan Driscoll mashed a 2-run homer and second baseman Ronny Simon went yard in Durham’s 7-2 victory over Charlotte on Wednesday evening at Truist Field.
SS Tristan Gray started the Bulls off with an RBI single before 3B Austin Shenton scored on a wild pitch. Shenton grounded into a double play in the fourth frame and drove in another run in the sixth to extend Durham’s lead to 4-1. Driscoll mashed a 2-run homer, followed by Simon’s solo homer in the ninth.
Bulls starter Nathan Wiles Sulzer earned the victory (5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO), while Knights starter Nick Nastrini (2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 5 SO) suffered the defeat.
The two teams are set to continue their six-game series on Thursday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. RHP Anthony Molina is anticipated to get the nod for Durham and be opposed by RHP Jose Urena.
The Bulls return home to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, September 12 to begin a six-game homestand with the Louisville Bats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. First pitch is set for 6:35pm.
