Charlotte Beats Durham 10-4

Bulls third baseman Osleivis Basabe drove in two runs and center fielder Kameron Misner homered, while Knights’ right fielder Victor Reyes smashed two homers and short stop Erik Gonzalez hit a grand slam as Charlotte defeated Durham 10-4 on Saturday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Reyes and C Carlos Perez each homered as part of the Knights’ two-run fourth frame before another tally in the sixth made it 3-0. Gonzalez mashed a grand slam in the same inning, extending Charlotte’s lead 7-0.
The Bulls went scoreless until the eighth before Basabe drove in a run and first baseman Kyle Manzardo knocked an RBI double. CF Adam Haseley and Reyes would then each homer to extend Charlotte’s lead to 10-2. Misner homered and Basabe drove in a run in the following inning, bringing the final score to 10-4.
Knights’ starter Sammy Peralta (2.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB 4 SO) combined with relievers Luke Farrell (2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO), Declan Cronin (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 SO) and A.J. Alexy (1.0 IP, 0 H,0 R, 3 S0) for seven scoreless innings to earn the victory. Bulls starter Evan McKendry (5.1 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO) suffered the defeat.
The two teams are set to finish their six-game series on Sunday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05pm. Pitchers for both teams are to be announced.
