DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls took an early lead, but couldn't generate more runs, ultimately falling 3-1 to the Indianapolis Indians Saturday night at the DBAP in front of a paid attendance of 10,114. Alex McRae (7-6) recorded the win for the Indians, while Aaron Slegers (4-6) suffered the loss for the Bulls.
The Bulls got off to a fast start in the first inning, beginning with a Kean Wong triple and an RBI single by Michael Perez to take a 1-0 lead. The inning appeared to have legs, with the Bulls loading the bases, but they failed to add on to their lead.
Cole Tucker was able to tie the game for the Indians in the top of third inning with an RBI single to right field. The Indians added one run the next two innings to move ahead, with a Christian Kelley RBI single in the fourth inning and a Jason Martin RBI single in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Despite matching the Indians in hits with 11, the Bulls struggled to generate runs to complete a comeback. Durham loaded the bases in the fifth and eighth innings, but couldn't scratch any more runs across.
The Bulls and Indians will battle for a final time on Sunday evening at 5:05 at the DBAP during Marvel Super Hero Day. Right-hander Arturo Reyes will take the ball for the Bulls and face off against Indians right-hander Dario Agrazal.
