The El Paso Chihuahuas led 2-1 in the sixth inning in Albuquerque Tuesday night but the Isotopes came back to win 7-2. It was the first matchup between the two teams this season.
The Chihuahuas’ first run came on an RBI single by Brett Sullivan in the first inning, which moved his hitting streak to seven games. Their second run came on Mike Brosseau’s RBI single in the top of the fifth. El Paso center fielder Clay Dungan walked and stole second base in the first inning. It was his fifth steal of the season, which is second-most in the Pacific Coast League. Chihuahuas third baseman Nate Mondou went 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk.
Trenton Brooks went 0-for-4 Tuesday, which was the first time he didn’t reach base in 14 games with the Chihuahuas. Albuquerque scored three runs on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth inning on a steal of home and a Chihuahuas’ throwing error after the throw back to pitcher Omar Cruz. El Paso pitching walked 10 batters and the Chihuahuas made four errors, both of which were season highs.
