The Las Vegas Aviators scored eight runs in a 13-batter bottom of the first inning and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 20-2 on Tuesday night at Las Vegas Ballpark. It was the first of three times that Las Vegas sent 10 or more batters to the plate in one inning on Tuesday. The Aviators have beaten the Chihuahuas in five of the seven matchups this season.
The Chihuahuas’ runs came on a solo home run by Luis Campusano in the top of the fifth inning and an RBI single by Oscar González in the sixth. Tirso Ornelas went 2-for-3 with a walk for the Chihuahuas. Francis Pena struck out two in a perfect relief inning for El Paso.
El Paso infielder Mike Brosseau came off the bench to pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was his 13th professional pitching appearance and the first by an El Paso position player since Jantzen Witte against Sugar Land on August 8, 2023. The 20 runs from Las Vegas were the most allowed by El Paso this season and four shy of the Chihuahuas’ team record for most runs allowed in a game.
